- The proposed site for the new East Lothian Community Hospital
in Haddington in East Lothian, on behalf of a private client,
in autumn 2009. The site involved was 3.42 ha. of formerly managed
grounds of an existing hospital, including amenity grassland,
and various areas of planted trees, including avenues and lines
of limes and sycamores, mixed shelter-belts and more recent landscape
plantings. The work-scope involved a 0.5 day site visit, during
which rough maps were marked up, and then the preparation of a
neat copy of the resultant Phase 1 Habitat Survey Map, together
with a supporting 24 page report. In this instance the work involved
was, in effect, an Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey and it also
included an investigation and consideration of the presence of
European Protected Species.
- The site of the proposed new Westfield wind-farm, near Glenrothes,
Fife for RPS, in 2009. The site surveyed was some 100 ha. and
is comprised of extensive areas of despoliation associated with
opencast mining which are now being colonised by various pioneer
vegetation. The work-scope was confined to the preparation of
a neat copy of the resultant Phase 1 Habitat Survey Map and target
notes following a site visit;
- The site of the proposed new Keith Hill wind-farm, (an extension
to the Duns Law wind-farm), in East Lothian, for Arcus, in 2007.
The site involved c. 450 ha. is on the edge of the Lammermuir
Hills. It is comprised of pasture, silage and arable fields, shelter-belts,
scrub areas, moorland and rough grassland areas and coniferous
plantations. The site was visited during 2 day visits, during
which rough maps were marked up, and then the preparation of a
neat copy of the resultant Phase 1 Habitat Survey Map, together
with a supporting 19 page report; and,
- The proposed site for the new Berwickshire High School in Duns,
in the Scottish Borders on behalf of ERM in autumn 2005. The site
involved was c. 12 ha. of arable farmland, improved / semi-improved
and wet grassland. The work-scope involved a 1 day site visit,
during which rough maps were marked up, and then the preparation
of a neat copy of the resultant Phase 1 Habitat Survey Map, together
with a supporting 18 page report.
